TADAO MURATA - Univ. of Illinois at Chicago, cu tema: OVERVIEW
AND RECENT TRENDS OF PETRI - NET RESEARCH |
 |
În prezenta a circa 30 specialisti din sistemul de
cercetare academic, din Universitatea Bucuresti si din Universitatea
Politehnica Bucuresti, profesorul TADAO MURATA a prezentat cu succes
conferinta enuntata (detalii). |
 |
ABSTRACT: This talk consists of three parts:
(1) Introduction, (2) Recent trends of Petri-net research, and (3)
In-depth presentation of one or two of our recent research results. It
is assumed that the audience has a little or no prior knowledge on Petri
nets. First, in the introduction we plan to discuss basic concepts and
methods of Petri nets using simple examples. Second, we review recent
Petri-net applications and theory in the literature. Third, we plan to
present our recent works on fast
performance evaluation by using fuzzy logic and Petri nets, and we
illustrate how to compute possibility measures of events, and degrees of
possibilities to satisfy given requirements, etc. Time permitting, we
present application to moving-object database systems. |

SPEAKER: TADAO MURATA received his M.S. and
Ph.D. degrees from the Univ. of Ill. at Urbana-Champaign in 1964 and
1966, respectively. He is presently a UIC Distinguished Professor in the
Dept. of Computer Science at the Univ. of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). He
is the first recipient of the C. A. Petri Distinguished Technical
Achievement Award, and the recipient of the 1991 IEEE Donald G. Fink
Prize Award. He served as Editor for the IEEE Trans. of Software Eng.,
for which he received IEEE Computer Society's Meritorious Service Award.
He served on the U.S. National Academy of Science/Computer Science and
Technology Board. He served as the General Chairman for the 1987 Int.
Workshop on Petri Nets and Performance Models held in Madison, and for
the 1993 Int. Conf. on Application and Theory of Petri Nets held in
Chicago. He is a Life Fellow of IEEE, and a Fellow of IEICE.
